USA National Championship 2018Kettlebell Sport athletes strive for results and rankings and while Certified Master of Sport and Master of Sport are both commendable accomplishments there is only one place where one can achieve the title of USA National Champion and that is by competing at the USA National Championship. The USA Championship is also crown jewel in the US International competition circuit where one can attain the honored rank Master of Sport International Class (MSIC).Along with “owning” an international rank, lifters can also attain the various other AKA/IUKL performance ranking.
Thank you to all the lifters that compete at the 2018 USA Championship and to our sponsors, GSPlanet, Kettlebell Kings, Vikin Chalk, Kettleguard, Stick Mobility .

We also had a bit of history and a glimpse into the future of kettlebell sport in the USA. We were honored with a visit from USA kettlebell Sport pioneer, Lorraine Patten. Lorraine is one of the first American kettlebell lifters that travelled to Russia in 2005 and were the first Americans’ to compete in international kettlebell sport. The future of USA kettlebell sport appeared in the form in solid performances from several youth and junior lifters. Our youth lifters Brianna Baierlein and Gianna Steele both lifted long cycle went a full 10 minutes and Gianna Steele also lifted a 6kg kettlebell in a ¼ marathon doing 4XX repetitions. Junior lifter Meghan Heyward lifted a 16kb kettlebell 115 times taking first place and moving closer to her goal of becoming a Team USA member and competing in the IUKL World Championship in Latvia October 10-15.
The USA Championship is where kettlebell athletes can qualify for AKA Team USA draft. The first place lifter in each of the professional ranks, 32kg for me and 24kg for women atomically qualify. In the amateur ranks, the top three finalists in each weight category are eligible for the team draft. Here too, first place finishers automatically qualify but, unlike the professional ranks where only one lifter in each category can compete, in the amateur ranks up to three athletes may be eligible.
Thanks again to our lifters. We hope to see everyone at one of the USA Cup competitions coming up later this year. Click this link below for the entire AKA 2018 competition schedule.
